Students are seen in the school nurse's office for many reasons. I strive to make my office a spot in the school where the students feel safe and cared for. Please contact me if your child has any medical or mental health issues that may require my attention. I am able to administer medications with a provider's order - please contact me regarding paperwork for medication administration in school.
If your child is sent home with a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea,, they need to remain out of school until they are free from symptoms for twenty four hours. Children must be free from fever for at least twenty four hours without using fever reducing medications. The Craven County Health Services Program defines fever as a temperature of 100 degrees F. Viruses and other illnesses spread quickly - I ask that you follow these Craven County recommendations for the benefit of the Brinson community.
Immunizations: All students must be in compliance with NC Immunization Law (GS130A-152) within 30 days after enrollment in school.· Any student not in compliance after 30 days will be suspended until proof of compliance is received in the school. This is the parent’s responsibility.·
Health Assessment: All students entering kindergarten must be in compliance with NC Health assessment requirements (GS130A-440) - every child in this state entering kindergarten in the public schools shall receive a health assessment. The health assessment shall be made no more than 12 months prior to the date of school entry. Any student not in compliance after 30 days will be suspended until proof of compliance is received in the school.
